Each night your child will be responsible for bringing home their assignment notebook.
They are expected to take the responsibility to show it to you each day.
Your job: Make sure your child completes each assignment and that it’s stowed safely in their home folder/ backpack.
Initial the box upon checking.
*Students who miss ZERO assignments in a month will be in our monthly
homework club and will be rewarded for their responsibility!
•Anytime an assignment is missing, your child will receive a highlight in their assignment notebook.
•If a highlight is received, they will stay in from recess that day to complete the assignment.
•When three highlights are received in one week, a detention slip will be given, notifying you.
You will be given 2 choices of dates for a day that your child will be expected to stay after school or come early before school.
It will be your responsibility to provide transportation for your child before or after school.
We know as you discuss this policy with your child you will be emphasizing the importance of becoming a
responsible learner and sharing with them your expectations regarding homework.

Birthday treat policy |
Thursday folders |
Your child is welcome to bring a treat on their birthday!
We have 18 students. Due to severe food allergies, all birthday treats must be store bought and individually wrapped! No bags of goodies, cupcakes, cake, or drinks please! Treats will be passed out to students in our class only. Please don’t pass out invites unless the whole class is invited! *Summer birthdays will be announced in the last few months of school and are welcome to bring treats, too! |
Communication between home and school is vital to your child’s success in the classroom and important in keeping you informed about what is happening at Indian Trail!
To keep you informed, a folder will be sent home every THURSDAY. This folder contains completed student work, final tests, graded projects, notes from the office, memos from PTA, field trip forms, special event notices, community announcements, and more! Your job: Look through the folder with your child- discussing completed student work, final tests, and graded projects. Share celebrations and areas to grow in. Most papers in the folder may be kept at home. Sign each test/assignment that has a signature stamp. Additionally, sign and date the front of the Thursday folder. Return all signed material and Thursday folders to school Friday morning. Thank you for your on-going support! |
Warm Fuzzy whole class reward system
4th graders are role models at Indian Trail school.
They demonstrate responsibility, respectfulness, and thoughtful attitudes towards others.
When students work together to build a positive classroom community,
Miss Austin feels warm and fuzzy inside!
Miss Austin will drop “warm fuzzies” into a class jar when she catches role model behavior.
Once our class meets our goal, we will celebrate!! If you see a note come home with a warm fuzzy reward on it,
ask your child why we got warm fuzzies in our jar and they will gladly explain!
I can’t wait to start building a positive classroom community!
