My Educational Philosophy
I believe that each child has the potential to provide unique and interesting contributions into our society. As an educator, I will inspire my students to be lifelong learners. I will create learning opportunities that cultivate positive attitudes towards not only learning within the classroom, but also in our community.
I believe a positive, safe classroom environment is vital for effective instruction and learning. Students' should feel safe enough to ask questions and have honest conversations with their peers and teacher. This positive classroom environment is created through mutual respect, professionalism and clear and consistent expectations for students. In order to foster the internal intrinsic motivation and establish true interest in educational content, a safe classroom atmosphere is required.
I believe that a love of literacy is one of the most beneficial attributes an educator can instill upon a child. Literacy surrounds us at all times, a fact that we sometimes become unaware of. Giving students the opportunities to realize the importance and boundless uses of literacy is crucial for their appreciation for these skills. My hope is for my students to find pure joy from reading and writing, and enjoying these works outside school walls because that is one of the most authentic ways to learn and grow.
I believe that if a teacher is present and puts in the extra effort to help inspire students and to help make connections between the material and everyday life, learning will surely resonate. I strongly believe that the teacher who puts in the extra effort and makes those connections to the curriculum and everyday life is the key difference in changing a student’s attitude towards school.
